Common Issues
A station isn't playing or sounds broken
Some stations occasionally go offline or change their stream URL. Check your internet connection, try a different station to confirm the app is working, and if the problem persists with a specific station, email us and we'll update the stream URL.
The Nearby tab isn't showing stations near me
The Nearby tab needs approximate location to sort stations by distance. When prompted, tap "Allow location". If you previously declined, go to Android Settings > Apps > Localwave > Permissions > Location and allow it. You can also browse the map manually without granting location.
Can I listen in the background?
Yes. Audio keeps playing when you switch apps or lock your screen. You can control playback from the lock screen and the notification shade, and over connected Bluetooth devices and Android Auto.
The playback controls or notification disappeared
Localwave shows a playback notification to keep audio running. Make sure notifications are allowed in Android Settings > Apps > Localwave > Notifications. If you removed the notification, audio will stop — start a station again to bring it back.
How do I use the sleep timer?
Open the Now Playing screen, tap the sleep timer, and choose a duration. Localwave will stop playback automatically when the timer ends.
How do I save a favourite station?
Tap the heart icon on any station. Your favourites are stored on your device and appear on the Favourites tab. Favourites are free and unlimited.
Is Localwave free? Are there ads?
Localwave is completely free. There are no ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no accounts.
Does Localwave track my location?
No. If you grant location permission, your approximate location is used on-device only to sort nearby stations. It is never sent to any server. You can decline location and still use the app.
The app crashed or is not responding
Make sure you're running the latest version of Localwave from Google Play. Try force-closing the app and reopening it. If the problem continues, restart your device. If it still occurs, contact us with details about what you were doing when it happened.
