Common Issues
GPS coordinates are not appearing
Make sure Location is turned on for your phone and for Stampr. Go to Android Settings > Location and check it's on, then Settings > Apps > Stampr > Permissions > Location and choose "Allow only while using the app" with Use precise location enabled. Also check that "Location Services" is enabled within the Stampr app's own Settings tab. A fresh GPS fix can take a few seconds outdoors — the stamp overlay shows "ACQUIRING GPS…" until it locks.
Street address is missing or wrong
Street address lookup requires an internet connection. If you're offline, coordinates will still be stamped but the address may be unavailable. In areas with poor mapping coverage the address may also be inaccurate — you can correct it afterwards from the photo's detail screen (tap the address), and Stampr re-stamps the photo with your correction.
Voice notes are not transcribing
Two things to check. First, Stampr needs the Microphone permission — see Android Settings > Apps > Stampr > Permissions. Second, transcription uses an on-device speech model that downloads once (about 32 MB) — you'll be offered the download the first time you use voice notes, or you can get it from Stampr's Settings > Voice Recognition Model. After that, transcription works completely offline. Background noise can affect accuracy.
AI Note Cleanup is greyed out
AI Note Cleanup needs a device with Android's on-device AI (Gemini Nano) — currently recent flagship phones such as the Pixel 8 onwards and Galaxy S24 onwards. On other devices Stampr uses the verbatim on-device transcription instead — nothing is lost.
I purchased Stampr Pro but it's not active
Open Stampr's Settings tab and tap "Restore Purchase". Make sure you're signed into the same Google account you used for the purchase. If the issue persists, contact us.
The app crashed or is not responding
Make sure you're running the latest version of Stampr (check Google Play for updates) and that your Android system is up to date. Try force-stopping the app (Android Settings > Apps > Stampr > Force stop) and reopening it. If the problem continues, restart your device. If it still occurs, contact us with details about what you were doing when it happened.
I can't find my stamped video
Stamped videos are saved to your phone's gallery — look in Google Photos or your gallery app under the Movies/Stampr folder. After you stop recording, keep Stampr open until the "Stamped video saved to Movies" confirmation appears — processing takes a few seconds.
A project file (.stamprproj) won't import
Tap the file in your Files app, Drive, or an email attachment and choose Stampr if asked. If that doesn't work, the reliable path is inside the app: Library → filter menu → "Import Project…" and pick the file. Note that project files from the iPhone version open on Android only if they were exported from Stampr 2.1 or later on iOS.
Hands-free recording doesn't stop on a noisy site
Hands-free mode listens for about two seconds of silence after you've spoken. Loud machinery can keep it recording — tap the checkmark on the recording bar to finish immediately, or switch to the hold-to-record prompt mode in Settings → Voice Notes.
The level indicator isn't showing
The bubble level hides when the phone is pointing straight down (a horizon level has no meaning there) and can be turned off entirely in Settings → Level Indicator.
The map is blank or tiles won't load
The library map, the map inset on the stamp, and the map page in PDF reports use OpenStreetMap imagery, which needs an internet connection. Everything else — capture, stamping, transcription — works fully offline.
Compass bearing looks wrong
Phone compasses need occasional calibration: move the phone in a figure-eight motion a few times, and keep it away from magnets, metal cases, and vehicle dashboards. The stamp marks bearings °T (true) or °M (magnetic) depending on your North Reference setting.
